Accessibility statement for Van Scan
This accessibility statement applies to Van Scan at employee.kirklees.gov.uk/property-services, a site for Kirklees Council employees run by the Homes and Neighbourhoods Property Services team. The rest of the council’s websites are covered by Kirklees Council’s accessibility statement.
This website is run by Kirklees Council. We want as many people as possible to be able to use it. For example, that means you should be able to:
- change colours, contrast levels and fonts using your browser or device settings
- zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
- navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
- navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
- listen to most of the website using a screen reader
We’ve also made the text as simple as possible to understand. AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
How accessible this website is
We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:
- text does not follow the text size set in your phone’s settings, although you can zoom in with your browser
- parts of the editor that council staff use to write articles and pages may not work fully with assistive technology
What to do if you can’t access parts of this website
If you need information on this website in a different format, like accessible PDF, large print, easy read, audio recording or braille, email communication@kirklees.gov.uk. You can also contact the council’s Digital Services team on Digital.Services@kirklees.gov.uk or 01484 221000.
We’ll consider your request and get back to you in 5 working days.

Tell us the page, what the problem was and what you were using, for example a phone, a screen reader or a keyboard.
Enforcement procedure
The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the ‘accessibility regulations’). If you’re not happy with how we respond to your complaint, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).
Technical information about this website’s accessibility
Kirklees Council is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.
Non-accessible content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.
Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
Text does not resize with the text size set in a phone’s accessibility settings, such as Dynamic Type on iPhone. Browser zoom works on every page. We plan to fix this.
The editor that council staff use to write and publish content has been rebuilt. Some parts, such as the spelling suggestions and moving sections around, have not yet been tested with a screen reader. Every section can be moved with buttons as well as by dragging (WCAG 2.5.7 Dragging Movements). We plan to complete this testing and fix anything we find.
Preparation of this accessibility statement
This statement was prepared on 22 October 2026. It was last reviewed on 22 October 2026.
How we tested this website
This website was last tested on 22 October 2026 against the WCAG 2.2 AA standard. We test every type of page with an automated tool (axe-core) and fix the issues it finds, and we also test by hand with a keyboard, browser zoom and a narrow 320 pixel wide screen to find issues that automated testing misses.
